Class Descriptions

Ballet

Ballet has a technique that is the foundation for all that is dance. A combination of graceful, fluid and expressive movement, it has something for everyone.

Tap

Tap is rhythm personified! Made popular in the musicals starring Gene Kelly and Fred Astaire as well as the superb 42nd Street and more recently Stomp, Tap is a fantastic way to stay fit!

Jazz

Jazz dance draws on a variety of dance and musical styles. With ballet as its foundation it links itself with current dance and musical trends. It can be lyrical, relaxed and funky all at once. It’s a truly addictive style!

Ballroom/ Latin American

This popular dance style embraces all the well known dances : Waltz, Quickstep, Tango, Foxtrot and Viennese Waltz. Just what you need for a wedding, cruise or any special occasion. Even better – why not do it just for fun and exercise?! Anyone with two left feet, with or without a partner, is welcome!

Drama

In Drama we teach you the skills of acting for television, film and theatre. Improvisation and devising are great fun too. Support skills such as voice, speech, movement and audition technique are also covered in these enjoyable sessions.

Street

Think music videos, think dancers at your favourite star’s latest concert and there you have Street dance! The coolest and funkiest way to keep fit and have a great time with your friends. Not just for the younger pupils of RDDC – Adult Street classes are extremely popular and attract a wide age range of people!

Musical Theatre

Think about your favourite musical …. what does it include? A mixture of song, dance and drama. That’s what our musical theatre classes offer you. We take songs from all your favourite shows and create performances to remember!

Irish Riverdance

Inspired by traditional Irish dance, as well as the more recent and hugely popular Riverdance and Lord of the Dance shows, our popular classes include soft and hard shoe dance.

Belly

Belly dancing is natural to women with movements generating from the torso and hips rather than the legs and feet. It often focuses upon isolating different parts of the body, moving them independently in sensuous patterns, to Turkish and Middle Eastern music. Coin belts, veils and finger cymbals add to the excitement of this super dance style.

Salsa

A dance style so hot it sizzles! Classes at RDDC combine a mixture of Salsa, Mambo and Merengue, all great fun and definitely a must for those looking for a lively and energetic class!

Western Line Dance

No need for a partner, Western Line Dance is a style where everyone dances solo in lines so you can exercise and dance to your favourite routines whilst having a great time!

Keep Fit

The traditional way to exercise to music, our Keep Fit classes focus on the general principles of stretching, toning and strengthening, accompanied by great music and plenty of encouragement.
